| About Chirps | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
The purpose of this project is to explore the use of publicly available chirped ionospheric sounding transmissions (ionosondes) to study the ionosphere. These transmissions are made from most parts of the world, and cover the HF spectrum from about 3 to 30 MHz on a 24 hour basis. The unique aspect of this project is that it is wholly passive - it makes use of the sounding transmissions made by other agencies. This means that anyone can potentially receive and interpret the transmissions.
